independent on framerate and resolution…. for me its very easy to point out the difference between these 2 cameras.

    Canon shots the perfect picture.

The GH2 shots the picture with character!

well of course a good Director of Photographer is needed.

    I would 100% go with the GH2.

    Good work & Blog Mike

love the 45p, i miss 25p so much!!!!
will get the af101 as soon as it will be available and keep the gh2 for stills and camera B.

Love the test. I too have the GH2 and the Canon 5D Mark II. I think the aliasing and moire on the GH2 is much improved over the Canon. I actually also like the color rendering on the GH2 once I can get the white balance dialed. I think the Canon rolls off into blown highlights a little more smoothly but that’s very subjective.

Thanks for the comparison. Nicely done.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks, I love this test. I just got my GH2 and have only shot a few tests so far. But I wonder if you can help me. (I also sent you a message via vimeo)

I had the GH1 and I mostly shoot video testimonials for use on the web and I always shot with 720/60. I also have planse to do some documentary work with the GH2 and I would love to know how to get good results with 1080/24 but untiul your test, all the 24 video I have seen suffers from stuttering when it is put up on the web. How are you getting the smooth results with your video after it has been compressed to upload onto Vimeo, etc. Any help you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks for the great site!

They both look great, but the Compression artifacts look a bit worse in the 5Dm2 footage, also seems to be more aliasing on the 5Dm2 than the Panasonic. Hard to tell, the youtube compression may be introducing some of it, but even if that’s true, it shows that the panasonic source material handles compression better.
