Good timing on this one, I downloaded and installed the new Cinestyle profile while
our models got their make up and hair done. Check out Vincent Laforet’s comparison shots between the Canon and Technicolor profile. Definitely more information in the shadows (Techicolor should make this available to Panasonic, would love to have it for my GH2) . I really like the flat look this profile produces. So what does it mean in practical terms: Less intrusive grading, especially noticeable in high contrast and low light situations, however, keep in mind, the profile is not going to turn an ugly lighting situation into a good one. Of course you will still need to grade your film, if you are interested seeing Technicolor profile comparison videos, Philip Bloom just posted a bunch here.
Equipment used for this shoot: Canon 5Dmk2, 50mm 1.2, 28mm 1.8, Glidecam 4000, Vari filters, and my new Cineroid (quick review coming soon), a great addition/focusing aid for the 5D.
I enjoy shooting with the Glidecam, prefer lightweight lenses, the 28mm 1.8 is my favorite at the moment, the wide angle effect is not too distracting and one can achieve descent DOF with it . For real action scenes, the 17-40mm.

Hey Prab, If you checked out Mike’s “For The Moment: Natalia. Super Slow Motion” Video you can see he states he used Twixtor – http://www.revisionfx.com/products/twixtor/
Hope this helps.
Steve
Hello Mike,
I bought 5dMkii and 50mm 1.2 as recommended by you (Thanks for wonderful video demos). Can please please let me know what software you use for slow motion since 5dmkii only has 30fps (Not 60fps). and what setting i should use for this type of video (24p or 30p). Currently i’m using Final Cut Pro X. You can even email me.
Thanks a lot in advance,,
Prab
thanks Phil, yeah, usually it does.
I used your link to put a canon 50 f1.2 in my cart at B&H. I purchased it a few days later. So I hope it works. Love everything you do.
thanks barth, just some flair I created in photoshop, nothing special
Hello Mike
that is done with this, the species of layers?
effects that are occasionally on your pictures
that is very attractive …
great week to you
Love this. Great work Mike, the colors are beautiful. And you’re right, would be nice to see this on panasonic’s cameras.
Should be great for weddings, you get a very flat base video (lots of detail in the whites and blacks) which makes grading a breeze.
Thanks, will download it and try it out. Wondering how this cinestyle would work for weddings.
