NYC Street Performers: Olympus ED 45mm 1.8 on Panasonic GH2

NYC Street Performers: Olympus ED 45mm 1.8 on Panasonic GH2

After a quick focusing speed test, I was very curious to find out how the Olympus 45mm performs in real life situations. Street performers can be challenging to shoot, they move fast and the lighting isn’t ideal. Shooting wide open at 1.8 could have been another obstacle but not with this lens. It nailed the focus every time and the speedy AF performance was just

fast enough to capture a few nice shots. I am very impressed by the smooth bokeh it produces, rivaling much larger, heavier and more expensive lenses. The lens is tiny and does not look intimidating, which is a good thing for street photography, I just wish Olympus would make a black version. On the streets, the blink factor is not desired. I feel totally comfortable only packing the 12mm and 45mm for street work. Exciting times for street photographers! Watch the video in 1080 to get the full effect of the 100% crops (second image).
