My Favorite Bargain Gear In 2011

Many of you have emailed me asking which camera and/or which lens to buy and I always ask what type of work you are planning to do before I reply. Get the right tool for the job. The systems I am using fall into two categories and below is a list of my favorite things, cameras, lenses and accessories that have performed beyond my expectations.

1) Gear I use for professional work (photography, video)
Sony FS100 (the reason I list it as a bargain, image quality rivals the much more expensive Sony PMW F3L)

Rokinon 35mm 1.4 for Canon
Rokinon 35mm 1.4 for Sony

Rokinon 85mm 1.4 for Canon
Rokinon 85mm 1.4 for Sony
Rokinon 8mm 3.5 Fisheye for Canon APSC size only
Rokinon 8mm 3.5 Fisheye for Sony APSC size only
Sigma 8-16mm for Canon
Sigma 8-16mm for Sony

LockPort Universal for 5D2 and 7D, best Hdmi Accessory
UPDATE: I just have to let you know about the insane deal on the 5D2 at bh for under $2K plus lots of freebies.

2) Gear I use for personal and documentary work (photography, video)
Sony Nex 5N
Sony Nex 5N video sample
Sony Nex 16mm
Sony Alpha to Nex lens adapter
Sony 18mm Wide adapter
Sony Fisheye adapter
Sony Nex 30mm 3.5
Update: Because of the recent firmware release for the Panasonic GH2 I have to mention it also and the price is just great :D

3) best all round camera
Sony SLT A77, this camera is in a league of its own for now, impressive as a studio still camera, street camera (silent shutter sound) and video camera!
