Amira from NYmodels had so much energy when she showed up for this casting, I kept snapping away and it almost turned into a real photo shoot! Check out the rest of the set after the break

I am having quite a blast with this little camera, love using it for street and in the studio on castings, models like it too and ask about it, what matters is everyone stays relaxed and relaxed photo sessions usually produce good results! The imgage below shows my current set up with the Computar c mount 50mm 1.8. The lens feels very solid, focus and aperture ring are well dampened, the lens is blurry wide open except for a small, sharp sweet spot in the center, distorts quite a bit but this is easily fixable in post. Even with focus peaking enabled I recommend the HoodLoup or the EVF to nail focus. Since I received a few emails asking about which external microphone to use for the 5N, here is the link to the Sony ECM SST1.
Verdict on this mic is still out, haven’t tried it yet.
I have the Nex 7 on order, the only reason I am not getting the EVF for the 5N. I am very impressed with the sensor on the 5N, Sony has done a great job here and I can’t wait to get my Nex 7! Exciting times!
The shots below show the light fall off (vignetting) on the Nex 5N
wide open at 1.8

thanks! to bad the Nex 7 will be delayed due to the flood in Thailand – I am so looking forward to this camera, looks perfect ergonomically and the DXO lab sensor findings (A77-same sensor) indicate it will be amazing. Nothing to worry about. Let’s hope there aren’t any flaws we aren’t aware of ….
I have the same lens , love the skin tones. Still waiting for the NEX-7 though, as I can only buy ONE camera. I wish the NEX7 had less pixels, 16MP is plenty by anyones standards.
interesting test, thanks
