Sony 35mm f1.8 OSS with rear plastic shield removed
Many of us are wondering if removing the rear plastic shield/rectangular window will have an impact on the image circle, possibly allowing us to squeeze out a little more then 1.5x on our A7/r. check the result after the
break

It doesn’t look like it is making much, if any difference. /:
however, I would still prefer to shoot in full frame mode and depending on subject, end up with a larger usable area then the predefined 1.5x crop. Big thanks to Mars Observer, who dismantled his lens and allowed me to share it on my blog. Check out his incredible flickr stream, some truly amazing shots, with his new Sony A7!

Hi Otto! you can use it in apsc mode or manually select full frame mode in the menu. I don’t have the lens but assume you will get serois vignetting. Try it. Probably best using it in apsc mode. Just select auto detect in the menu and the camera will recognize it and switch to apsc automatically

Thank you for sharing this. I just purchased the Sony A72 and was wondering if I could use the 35mm f/1.8 lens on it. It looks like its possible, but with some limitations. I wonder what the field of view is once the dark edges are cropped out? I really like the Sony FE 35mm lens, but at f/2.8 its a bit slow in darker situations. Thanks!
