When I first laid my eyes on her, I stared as a starving man would have gazed at a bowl of rice. She was beyond beautiful, wearing all black. 24mp APSC sensor and full manual video control. The best EVF I had ever seen. The inevitable had to happen, I pulled my credit card and ordered one. There were problems. Thailand floods. Sleepless nights. Back order status updates. Street portraits: Nikon D800 with 50mm f1.8G, Sony Nex-7 and 50mm f1.8 OSS

After the first snaps with the D800 it became obvious that the Nikkor 24-120mm f4G struggles to deliver on this sensor wide open. Today I tried the Nikkor 50mm 1.8G and really like the results. One of my subjects offered $10 bucks for the camera. I asked for $50 and he just shook his head. Told you Gaffa tape works :) the rest after the break

Street moments with the Sony Nex 7 and the Sigma 19mm f/2.8 EX DN

When I got back from my run this morning there was a package from BH, the replacement Sigma 19mm f2.8 EX DN (my first copy was DOA). A beautiful day here in NYC and I had about an hour in the afternoon to take it to the streets, more images and first impressions after the break
