I really enjoy shooting with the Sony FS100, love the form factor for my type of work, its very easy to set up and pretty much everything can be customized. Decided to do another rolling shutter test against my other two workhorses, the 5D2 and GH2.
I didn’t have my Canon 7D available for this test, but the results from my previous comparison between the 7D and Gh2 are pretty much identical. The 5D2 is still king in terms of sensor size and if you need the best possible bokeh in your shoots there is no alternative. For everything else there are now a few very interesting options. Panasonic AG AF100 and the Sony FS100. The sensor in the 5D2 shows its age and doesn’t do too well in this test. GH2 and FS100 are very close. In most situations, jello won’t be a problem. Converted the footage to b/w to avoid image quality comparisons, this is just about the jello/shutter roll, nothing more.
Check back in a couple of days for my impressions working with the Sony FS100.
