Hi Konstantinos, you should be fine if you stop down to 5.6. You don't need to bother with complicated depth of field conversions, it is roughly the same on a crop sensor at the same distance,
only the field of view is narrower. For example if you focus on 5m the depth of field indicator still applies approximately, however, the field of view you are getting from the crop sensor is narrower then on ff.

Dear Mike,

I am thinking on buying the Voigtlander 28mm 2.8 SLII. From what I have read, it is very similar to the 20mm but a little sharper on the corners and extreme corners.
My question is relative to the DOF focusing in a crop sensor (I have a Nikon D5200). How easy is it? I know that the scale is no longuer valid. Any trick or suggestion? If I follow DOF calculator web would it work?

ps. I also own a Zeiss 21mm but I use it for landscapes with a tripod and live view. The Voigtlander would be more for travelling and zone focusing.

Thank you very much in advance.

Thanks for the great comparison! I'm the happy owner of a zeiss 21mm...but looking at the 40mm now and would love to see the comparison to the zeiss 35mm and zeiss 50mm 1.4. Any plans to post this video soon?

Thanks!
