You have a point with the focus by wire there. Not a fan of it either.the 40mm sounds like a good option for you and check out the Voigtlander Color Skopar 25mm f4 snapshot. I love that lens for street shooting.

Thanks for your blogging Mike!

Wondering what your recommendation would be for one lens to use with my A7S for street photography, light weight travel

Given the premise that the best camera is the one you have with you, I am looking for something that can fit in a large pocket so that I can carry it with me continuously.. as opposed to my larger backpack that carry with two bodies and 3 lenses e.g. zooms.

I see you use the Sony 35, as well as some of the shorter voigtlander pancakes.. so I reckon you are the perfect person to ask

I was leaning towards the voigtlander 40mm f2.8 heliar and the Shoten adaptor, because I hate the sony focus by wire, and I am old school about focus anyway. While that combo will weigh more than the sony 35mm, the size of the voightlander seems to be easier to fit in a large pocket.

I could also see having a second lens like the voightlander 15mm super-wide heliar, as I make quite a lot of use of my rokinon 16mm, but the rokinon is not a pocketable lens

Any thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks

That looks like a re-branded Mitakon lens; there are some interesting ones out there for cheap and under a variety of names, including Sears and JCPenny branded lenses. :) Love their new lenses too, character if not great optics.
