The difference between the 85mm 1.8 G and 1.4 G isn't as noticeable as on the 50mm G's. Still, the 1.8 G is a tiny bit faster. Enjoy the new lens, Derek, it really is awesome, don't forget to fine tune the "focus adjust", esp if you are planning to shoot wide open

Thank you Mike.
I did not know that the AFS50mmf1.8G focuses faster than the 1.4G , I never shot the f1.8G.
does the same logic also apply to the 85mmf1.4g vs the 85mmf1.8g AF speed?
if so, I will add the AFS85mmf1.8G for my Nikon kit.
thank you again.

thanks Derek! True, when I first picked up the XPro1, af speed and mis focusing drove me crazy. Fuji improved things with the latest firmware and most of my street shots were taken with the 18mm, which is Fuji's fastest focusing lens, only a fraction behind the Nex-7. Even in bad light this lens doesn't mis-focus too often. The af on the 35mm however only works well in really good light. We have to keep in mind even the Nikkor 50mm 1.4 G focuses slower then the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 G, a 1.4 lens requires more precise lens movement and that seems to slow it down.
I think the 14mm Fujinon will be blazing fast and looking at their latest X100S - focusing problems appear to be a thing of the past :)

Mike amazing shot!
thanks for sharing this and I wonder how you could keep up with a skater with this amazing but supposedly slow AF camera?
I have read many bad reviews on its AF but looking at your photos with this camera , I wonder if the AF of this camera really that bad , I mean if it really is that bad, then how could you shoot these excellent street candid shots with it?
Do you think its AF any worse than the AF of the NEX7 particularly in lowlight street scene?

thanks.
