Thanks so much, Stanton! Yes, there are some amazing 50mm lenses out there, however, the a7rii's AF is so good I rarely use MF lenses now. Nailing focus with a standard prime wide open was a nightmare on the Canon and Nikon, unless i dialed in micro adjustment for a certain distance.... Many more keepers with this set up and quite fast

Great shot. Classic for sure.
The 55 on my 7mkII and S, is simply astonishing. Fast to focus, rendering, color, bokeh, really a great lens.

Ive got a few mf 50's that I use, one is a hand-made Japanese 50 f/1.1, and a Nikon 50 f/1.2....These are both amazing lenses in their own right, but the 55 is really a great lens, and I think it has a lot to do with the concave front element, and the sonnar set-up.

Cheers.

Mike,

I have been trying to come up with a comment ever since you posted this image. So difficult, from wanting to know your post processing, to whether you shot this outdoors, in a building or studio. They all seemed to fail.

What I see here is, in my opinion, one of, if not the strongest, image I have seen on your site.

This is truly iconic.

Strong and clear.

Be well
