Shooting wide open with the 85mm was challenging but I think you will agree the results are worth the effort, since this is a manual focus lens, I kept checking the focus confirm light constantly. I ended up with more keepers then during my time with the Nikkor 85mm 1.4 G, which was fantastic when it nailed focus, however, that was not always the case.
For some reason the DC Nikkor didn’t have that problem and nailed focus every time, wide open. I was also surprised by the auto focus speed of this ancient screw driver coupled lens, blazing fast, as fast as some G lenses.
