Olympus ED 45mm 1.8, AF Autofocus Test

The Olympus 12mm lens is definitely my favorite wide angle for the M43 mount and today the 45mm 1.8 arrived. A great portrait lens, acts like 90mm on full frame, love the size and built. Only thing-I really want it in black (the lens in black after the break).
I was surprised how fast and silent this lens focuses,

it is much harder to achieve fast AF speed on a tele lens, optical elements have to travel further in distance then on a wide angle lens.
Check the very short video to see how fast this lens focuses. A totally unscientific test and your results may vary, but it will give you a pretty good idea this lens is no slouch. A keeper in my bag.
Equipment used and mentioned in this video:
Olympus 45mm 1.8
Olympus 12mm 2.0
Panasonic 20mm 1.7
Panasonic GH2

  5. I wish sony would make the same style of rangefinder-like lenses for their nex series. I don’t really like those big beastily lenses.

By the way, Mike, have you tried the hack for the gh2? http://www.eoshd.com/content/4452/gh2-gets-avchd-intra-at-176mbit
