Once Upon A Time In Brooklyn: Soma editorial: Canon 5D mark II

Filed under: Beauty,Models Fashion,Photography Fashion,Video Beauty,Video Fashion — mike.kobal @ 2:23 pm

A simple clip about the romantic chemistry between our models :D
The 5D mark II is still king when it comes to shallow depth of field, first time I used my trusty 24 105mm kit lens in a fashion shoot (24 70mm is in the shop) , kept it wide open and the results are impressive. Of course I also used my my 50mm 1.2 (still my favorite lens for the 5D2) and the fantastic Zacuto EVF. Focusing was a breeze with the 50mm, due to the smaller aperture a bit difficult at times with the kit zoom, especially at the wide end. I do like the 105mm at the tele end for close ups. 70mm can be too short for good close ups. Photos after the break

Quick look at the Sony SLT A65 and SLT A77

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to borrow the Sony SLT65 for a couple of hours. I was impressed enough to order one and the SLT A77 for an upcoming trip in December. So, what pushed me to go with Sony?

Affordable High Speed Lenses, Alternatives for Zeiss and Canon L Glass

<p>Affordable lenses that won't break the bank
Suggestions for high quality glass that won’t break the bank is one of the most frequently asked questions I get. Two brands in particular come to mind:
Voigtlander (manual focus only):
I love my Voigtlander 40mm 2.0 and 20mm 3.5 Pancake lenses (in stock at B/H again), it turns the Canon 5D2 and 7D into very portable cameras and both deliver great results. The built quality and feel is on par with Zeiss lenses, the price a lot less! (more…)
